TECH Crunch talks to SCVNGR CEO about the “Foursquare Killer”

I really am enjoying the SCVNGR app (i have it on my Samsung Vibrant & my temporary iPhone 3G). It is a game that took the ideal of foursquare as others have but added a layer of “Challenges” this makes this location based game much more interesting.

iPhone For Verizon: My Thoughts

It seems like iPhone is doomed to fail by waiting this long to go multi-carrier. In January the iPhone will be released on Verizon, but will anyone really be that excited except for current iPhone users. also by doing this I see MANY people seeing no point in getting an iPhone with AT&T anymore because I always hear how bad the signal coverage is.

Anyway, there are so many Android phones that are out now and coming out in the future that seem to out class the iPhone. I keep saying that the only thing that I see that iPhone still has on Android is that there App Store is more matured that the Android market. The iPhone App Store has MANY more apps more companies and people develop for iPhone because they were the dominating force in the cell phone market. Once these companies realize that there are just as many Android users as iPhone users and start to hire more people to Develop for Android we may see the markets start to even out. seeing many more of the same apps on Android as there are in the iPhone App Store.

After this happens I see new Verizon customers picking up an Android phone rather than an iPhone. But of course there are still the the Apple fans that will stay loyal to Apple and stick with the iPhone. I am now using an iPhone as a secondary device that I carry around to check out the App Store mess with some apps and explore the OS.

What do you think will happen when the iPhone is released on Verizon as far as Apple’s profits and AT&T’s losses?

Leaked Droid X Software get a C&D

Last week a early version of the Android 2.2 (Froyo) was leaked by My Droid World and received a C&D and demanded the OS be taken down. Some people ask why would this happen if Android is an open source platform, the answer is that the bare bones android is Open not the branded versions like MOTOBlur and HTC Sense. Once a company makes their own version of Android it becomes copyrighted. The Droid X is said to receive its update by the end of the summer, although I have heard that some Droid users have received the update so if you haven’t gotten your update then you should be receiving it soon. HEY!, SUMMER IS ALMOST OVER! 🙂

Chrome OS Tablet?

So I have been hearing about this tablet recently that is supposed to release on Verizon at the end of this year on Black Friday. The tablet is going to run Chrome OS and is being manufactured by HTC. In the picture it looks almost identical to the iPad but that could change because it is of course, just a rendering. I guess we can assume it will have a capacitive touchscreen, bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and since it is on Verizon, will be on EVDO Rev.A. Would be nice if it has a camera or two including a front facing camera for web chat. Now I would assume to compete with the iPad they would want to have ADOBE FLASH and some sort of native video chat software.

My question is why continue with chrome OS why not just use Android and integrate some of the features that they want to see on the  Chrome OS?

Easy Tether

Froyo is comming around soon so until then if you don’t want to root your phone to get Wireless Tether you can use Easy Tether which is a Wired USB Tether application.

Adobe & Android Together in Q4 2010

The end of the year isn’t coming fast enough for me, when Froyo drops for all the supported phones iPhone better watch out because these Android phones are going to be packing some serious power. The fact that you will be able to play flash content in the browser is going to leave me on my phone not knowing what to do with myself I am on my phone constantly and now there is going to be TONS of existing content on the internet that I can access mobily. This means Flash webpages, videos and GAMES. Just give the Flash Object a double-tap and it fills the screen and acts as any other app would on the device. AddictingGames.com, Miniclip.com, and Newgrounds.com are going straight on my bookmarks when the update hits.

Galaxy S Gets Froyo In September

I can’t wait for Froyo to be released for my beloved Samsung Vibrant… With all the talk of the speed increase in Froyo and the fact that the Galaxy S phones are already amazing, I can’t wait to see how the new update performs. Above is the tweet that confirms the release of the update by Samsung UK Mobile. Right now the only phone with 2.2 is the google Nexus One, and next inline are the Droid X on Verizon and the EVO4G on Sprint.
