Home Screen Wars

Ever since the first replacement home app went on the market there have been more Home apps hitting the market and trying to keep up with each other. First there was dxTop, then aHome, then Open home and now Sweet Home. My favorite one right now is Open home because they have an app that works like AnyCut, but only for Open Home and the original Home screen. Better Cut lets you edit shortcuts with not only custom names but also icons from a picture, a cropped portion of a picture or my personal favorite and the only thing that I use, Icon packs that are created just for Better Cut. Another thing that I like about Open Home is that you can now change the font and color of the text and the  color and transparency background of the text on the Home screen. The Android UI is now officially, HIGHLY customizable! My UI looks beautiful now instead of playful like it used to be.

I used aHome before Open home and enjoyed it for a while because it resembled the iPhone UI. One of the updates I have seen recently when I reinstalled it was the keyboard. Yes Open Home does have a V-Keyboard but in aHome the keyboard is raised when a text field on the home screen is clicked on as it should be.

dxTop was the first and I haven’t checked it out lately but I hear that the Double-Tab can be pushed over to reveal a dock. I might have to check it out but I am locked into Open Home now so I don’t think I would switch reguardless.

Sweeter Home was in a Beta like stage last I checked, it has 5 screens and a widget like interface that can literally be molded to your liking by draging boxes into the size and shape you want.

Some Improvements I am looking for from Open Home are to make the V-Keyboard to show when I click on the Google search bar. I also think the dock would be better vertically coming from the side or at least have an option to have a Vertical dock or a horizontal dock (of course it would be horizontal from the bottom while the phone is open).
